Very Strong Start to the Day

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

The equity markets opened and rallied sharply. Good buying in the NASDAQ market is a positive sign. The S&P 500 has made a new high, but the NASDAQ is holding below resistance.

The mid-morning RSI readings from the CQG Custom QuoteBoard, using 15-minute bars for the equity derivative products indicate good buying. The RSI for the […]

Technology, Emerging Markets, and Energy Leading in the Early Trade

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

This morning, with widespread buying across the board (of the 228 ETFs I track, 86 percent are in the black this morning) we are seeing technology (a good sign), emerging markets, and energy ETFs leading. Excel is linked to CQG for the data.

Pullback Finds Some Buyers

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

The E-mini S&P 500 opened above a resistance zone established yesterday. However, the TF5Um5D study was negative at the start of trading indicating sellers were hitting bids. The market started to recover and the T5Um5D study moved into positive territory, but the buyers could not attract a following. Prices then fell to a support zone […]

Initial Buying Wave Uncovers Sellers

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

The equity markets opened higher in reaction to the better than expected November Retail Sales, but oil prices are up and sellers came into the equity markets.

The mid-morning RSI readings from the CQG Custom QuoteBoard, using 15-minute bars for the equity derivative products display a mixed market. The RSI for the E-mini S&P (EPH7) is […]

A Mixture of ETFs are Leading in the Early Trade

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

This morning, there is a mixture of ETFs populating the top ten performers, but there are two energy oriented ETFs in the top ten. Of the 228 ETFs I track, 60 percent are in the black this morning. Excel is linked to CQG for the data.

TradeFlow Aggregation

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

A reader inquired about my TradeFlow charts referencing a five-tick range. This is called Aggregation, and is available in Version 7.4. A short review is in order. When CQG first introduced TradeFlow, we could see the potential of knowing who the aggressors are: the buyers or the sellers. A TradeFlow bar, which uses the best […]

Sellers Come In

Tuesday, December 12th, 2006

The E-mini S&P 500 opened and then tested a resistance zone, the TF5Um5D study peaked, and the market rolled over. The selling took the market down to a support zone, the TF5Um5D study did not turn up, so it was clear that buyers stepped back.

Monday’s TradeFlow chart shows the market tested a support zone, and […]

Soft Market Ahead of FOMC Announcement

Tuesday, December 12th, 2006

The equity markets opened down with technology (ENQ) trading weaker than the S&P 500. The market is likely to chop around waiting for the FOMC report.

The mid-morning RSI readings from the CQG Custom QuoteBoard, using 15-minute bars for the equity derivative products indicate a mixed market. The E-mini S&P (EPH7), the Dow (DJI) and the […]

The Sweden Index and Energy are Leading in the Early Trade

Tuesday, December 12th, 2006

This morning, the Sweden Index ETF leads the top ten performing ETFs for today. Energy oriented ETFs are also on the rise. Of the 228 ETFs I track, only 40% of them are in the black this morning. Excel is linked to CQG for the data.

Technology is Starting to Lag

Tuesday, December 12th, 2006

In my article, Tracking Technology versus the S&P 500 I point out that technology, as measured by the NASDAQ 100 Index, will at times lead the direction of the equity markets, I showed a number of charts where tracking the ration of the NADAQ 100 to the S&P 500 gave you an early warning to […]
